Binibèquer (also known as Binibeca) is principally a residential area with many lovely villas. Whilst there are one or two hotels, they are small and discreet. It is undiscovered by most tour operators and is a place for independent travellers who either own their own villa or are renting one from an owner.
Reflecting the fact that most visitors will be on a self-catering basis, there are two well-stocked mini-markets within walking distance of our villas. For a more major shop there are excellent specialist food shops in Sant Lluis, ‘Big Red’ Eroski supermarket just north of St Lluis or, our favourite, Sa Botega at Suestra, just south of St Lluis. Of course Mahon has a full range of shops (both for food and everything else.) El Palador (www.elpaladar.es) is a wonderful delicatessen and the Fish Market in the centre of Maó is a must-visit.
200 metres from the villas is a children’s play area with swings etc and there is a little ‘road-train’ (pictured left) which, in the summer, runs a regular service between Binibéquer Vell and Punta Prima, taking in Binibéquer beach if you don’t fancy walking.
Binibéquer’s beautiful beach, with its bar offering good food and friendly service, is a 10 - 15 minute walk from our villas, but we enjoy swimming and snorkelling in the cove directly in front of our villas. The cove is easily accessible via proper steps. Sunbathing on the rocks with an occasional return to the villa for refreshments is a lovely way to pass a day.

Binibéquer Vell, two minutes walk from our villas, has the appearance of a traditional Mediterranean fishing village but is, in fact, quite recently built. It has narrow, cobbled streets and the buildings are all higgledy-piggledy.
There are some nice tapas bars, shops, restaurants and a picturesque harbour.
