Binibeca (or Binibèquer) is principally a residential area with many lovely villas. Whilst there are one or two hotels, they are small and discreet. It is undiscovered by most tour operators and is a place for independent travellers who either own their own villa or are renting one from an owner.
Reflecting the fact that most visitors will be on a self-catering basis, there are a number of well-stocked supermarkets within walking distance of our villas. For a more major shop there is ‘Big Red’ Eroski supermarket just north of St Lluis or, our favourite, Sa Botega at Suestra, just south of St Lluis.
200 metres from the villas is a children’s play area with swings etc and there is a little ‘road-train’ (pictured left) which, in the summer, runs a regular service between Binibeca Vell and Punta Prima, taking in Binibeca beach if you don’t fancy walking.
Binibeca’s beautiful beach, with its bar offering good food and friendly service, is a 10 - 15 minute walk from our villas, but we enjoy swimming in the cove directly in front of our villas. The cove is easily accessible via proper steps. Sunbathing on the rocks with an occasional return to the villa for refreshments is a lovely way to pass a day.
Binibeca Vell has the appearance of a traditional Mediterranean fishing village but is, in fact, quite recently built. It has narrow, cobbled streets and the buildings are all higgledy-piggledy. There is a nice bar, some shops and a picturesque harbour.
